DAIRY COMPANY MAY BE LIABLE FOR ACCIDENT QUEENS, NEW YORK (July 7, 2016)
A man in his 70’s remained critically injured after a tractor-trailer ran over his legs as he was crossing Jamaica Ave. near 168th St., according to the New York Post. Authorities have still not been able to determine the identity of the man that was injured. Police are saying that he was hit by a dairy truck. Emergency medical workers rushed to the scene of the accident and were able to free the man by using a air bag to lift the tire. The driver of the semi-truck remained on the scene and cooperated with police. The man was rushed to Jamaica Hospital with serious leg injuries, but he is expected to survive. Authorities will continue to investigate the big rig accident in order to determine liability. An investigation into the semi-truck accident is still pending, but the Dairy company may be liable for the accident if the driver of the truck is found at fault. Company’s are typically responsible for the actions of their employees as long as the employee was acting within the scope of their job.
