SPEED LIKELY A FACTOR IN FATAL TRUCK COLLISION MONTGOMERY, NEW YORK (July 14, 2016)
A 43-year-old man from Chester was killed in a tragic car accident after a speeding semi-truck in a construction zone crashed into multiple vehicles on Interstate 84, according to ABC News. Authorities have been able to identify the man that was killed in the big rig collision on I-84 as Christopher Marks. The multi-vehicle pileup in Orange County involved two tractor-trailers and 4 cars. Police are saying that the accident began after a 2010 Dodge truck slowed down due to stopped traffic and was rear ended by a 2004 Freightliner tractor trailer. The dodge truck then flipped over 4 times and landed near the median. The semi-truck continued to travel into the Sprinter van that Christopher Marks was a passenger in. The van was then pushed into a Mitsubishi Outlander that had two adults and a 9-year-old inside. Both vehicles were subsequently pushed underneath another tractor-trailer. Emergency medical workers rushed to the scene in order to help those who were injured. Unfortunately, Christopher Marks was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation into the crash is still ongoing, but the truck driver may be liable for the accident. It seems as though he was speeding through the construction zone.
