TRAGIC FIRE LEAVES 24 INJURED
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (JANUARY 1, 2017) – At least six people were seriously injured after a high rise apartment fire at 515 West 59th St., near 10th Avenue.
Police have not been able to determine what caused the fire in the first place. Fires can be caused by a number of factors including cooking accidents and electrical shortages.
Paramedics rushed to the scene in order to treat people for smoke inhalation. At least 20 people were injured in total including a number of firefighters. Nine people went to the roof of the building in order to wait out the fire.
One woman burned her hand on the railing as she was trying to get out. Door knobs and rails can often become extremely hot when there is a fire in a building.
