MANHATTAN: 24 People Were Injured In A High Rise Apartment Fire Including 7-Year-Old Girl Who Suffered Cardiac Arrest

HIGH RISE APARTMENT FIRE REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (JANUARY 1, 2017) – Twenty four people were injured after a fire broke out in a high rise apartment building on the West Side of Manhattan, according to NBC News.

At least 4 firefighters were among those that were injured. A 7-year-old girl was also seriously injured and suffered cardiac arrest. Paramedics were thankfully able to revive her.

It remains unclear what caused the deadly fire at 515 West 59th St., near 10th Avenue.  Winds contributed to the blaze and sent smoke into the hallways of the building.

There was very heavy smoke and a number of people had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

At least six people were in serious condition after the fire broke out.

Our staff at the RMFW Law Firm were deeply saddened to learn about this tragic accident at the high rise in Manhattan. We encourage police to conduct a thorough investigation for the sake of all of those that have been affected.
