Chautauqua County: Arthur McArthur Killed In Fatal Ambulance Accident After Driver Fell Asleep

PATIENT KILLED IN FATAL ACCIDENT AFTER AMBULANCE DRIVER FELL ASLEEP 

Chautauqua County, New York (February 24, 2017) – A man being transported to a nursing home was tragically killed after the ambulance driver that was transporting him fell asleep behind the wheel. Authorities have identified the 77-year-old nursing home patient as Arthur McArthur. The driver of the ambulance appears to have hit a culvert before the deadly crash. Am EMT that was assisting the patient in the back of the ambulance sustained non-life threatening injures following the crash. Arthur was being move to a rehabilitation nursing home prior to the fatal accident. It remains unclear if the police are going to press charges against the driver of the ambulance. Police conducted a number of drug tests on the driver, but those won’t be released for several more weeks. Authorities will continue to investigate the accident in order to determine liability.
