DEADLY CRANE ACCIDENT LEAVES TWO DEAD AT CONSTRUCTION SITE
QUEENS, NEW YORK (November 23, 2016) – Two men were killed in fatal crane accident in New York after a material failure with the crane, according to the Washington Post.
The accident happened when a wire that was connecting the crane and the beam snapped causing it to hit a crane operator and a construction worker.
Authorities have been able to identify the men that were killed in the accident as Alessandro Ramos and George Smith.
Alessandro Ramos was a construction worker at the site. George Smith was working as the crane operator. Both men were pronounced dead a the scene.
Mayor de Blasio called the crane accident a tragedy and said that it remained unclear what caused it to happen. It could be human error or something else.
Officials said that the do not believe that high winds played a role in the collapse.
