A four-vehicle crash left a New York woman dead and others injured. The fatal accident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 15 along Interstate 78 in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
According to police, a silver Toyota carrying five teenage boys pulled out in front of a Mazda carrying the deceased woman along with her husband and two children after changing a flat tire. The Mazda slammed into the back of the Toyota before hitting a Ford Focus being driven by an 18-year-old girl. The Mazda also hit a tractor trailer.
The 51-year-old New York woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband and two children suffered injuries in the accident and were taken to a nearby hospital.
All of the teenagers in the Toyota suffered injuries and were transported to a local hospital. In addition, the 18-year-old driver of the Ford Focus suffered minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital.
The fatal car crash caused a stretch of the westbound lanes of the interstate to be closed for more than six hours. Authorities are still investigating the accident.
A car accident like this shows how one driver’s error can cause harm to many other motorists. Drivers must remain cautious and attentive to avoid tragic collisions like this one.
