posted in Bus Accidents on Monday, September 17, 2012. A normal ride on a New York City bus turned into a dangerous one earlier this month after a school bus sideswiped several cars before hitting an SUV that then collided with an MTA bus. Sixteen people in total suffered injuries in the crash. At least four of those injuries were serious. The afternoon crash happened at the intersection of 108th Street and the Horace Harding Expressway. The school bus did not have any children on board. Shockingly, the driver of the school bus failed to stop after the accident. Police were working to determine the cause of the bus accident
. No one was fatally injured in the crash. However, the injuries that some suffered could force them to undergo surgery and rehabilitation. The injuries could disrupt some people’s entire lives and leave them with lasting physical and emotional scars. The bus driver could face criminal charges. In addition, if it is determined that the driver’s negligence caused the crash, he or she could face civil lawsuits. People expect that they will be safe when they are riding the bus. A person whose reckless behavior leaves others with injuries should be held responsible to the fullest extent of the law. No one can take away the pain of being in a serious bus accident. However, a personal injury lawsuit may alleviate financial burdens and provide victims with a sense of justice. Residents of New York City who are injured by a negligent driver would likely find it beneficial to speak with an experienced personal injury attorney.
