BUS DRIVER MAY BE LIABLE FOR FATAL MTA BUS CRASH MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (October 22, 2016)
A woman was killed in a tragic bus accident after an MTA driver hit her and dragged her for several blocks by Whitehall and State Street, according to ABC News. Authorities have still not been able to identify the victim. Witnesses to the crash desperately tried to get the driver of the bus to stop, but it appears that he wasn’t aware that he hit anyone. The fire department immediately responded to the scene of the crash. Onlookers and fire fighters worked to try to free the woman from the back of the bus. Unfortunately, the victim of the accident was pronounced dead at the scene by Trinity and Exchange Place. The bus driver was taken to the Beth Israel Hospital and has not been arrested. The QM7 bus accident in the financial district remains under investigation. Our staff at the RMFW Law Firm were deeply saddened to learn about the tragic death of the woman struck by the MTA Bus. We strongly encourage the NYPD to conduct a thorough investigation into this accident for the sake of the family and all of those involved. Pedestrian safety must be the number 1 priority for the MTA.
