MTA BUS DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER CRASH LEAVES WOMAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (March 10, 2017) – A 61-year-old cancer patient was nearly killed after being hit by an MTA Bus while she was walking in the crosswalk, according to the New York Daily News. Police have been able to identify the woman that was injuerd in the bus crash as Aurora Beauchamp. Witnessed looked on in horror as some pedestrians tried their best to free her. Rescue workers had to lift the bus up in order to free the victim. Aurora Beauchamp was visiting from Florida when the accident took place. Emergency medical workers arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to the Bellevue Hospital. TWU Local 100 President said that the traffic system may have contributed to the crash. There have been similar accident in recent months. Police later arrested the bus driver and charged him with failing to yield. The accident took place at E. Houston St. at Ave. D.
