WE ENCOURAGE ANY WITNESSES TO THE ACCIDENT TO CONTACT THE NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT HEMPSTEAD, NEW YORK (10, 28, 2016)
A female crossing guard was killed in a tragic accident after a big rig driver failed to yield to her as he was turning onto South Franklin and Grove streets, according to ABC 7 News. Authorities have been able to identify the woman that was killed in the big rig crash as Virginia Leviner. Police are saying that Virginia Leviner had her stop sign up and was expecting the truck driver to come to a stop. Unfortunately the driver did not stop and ran her over. Virginia Leviner family said that she had recently battled lung cancer and was looking forward to getting back to her kids. One witness to the accident says that it appears as though the driver of the semi-truck was trying to beat the red light. The tractor-trailer driver remained at the scene following the fatal accident, though the police have put him into custody. Authorities will continued to investigate the deadly crash in order to determine liability. Our staff at the RMFW Law Firm were heartbroken to learn about the tragic accident in Long Island that took the life of Virginia Leviner. Virginia Leviner was a hero that risked her life everyday in order to keep children safe and we deeply hope that she will be remembered for this. We encourage the police to conduct a thorough investigation for the sake of the victim’s family.
