HEMPSTEAD: Virginia Carol Leviner, School Crossing Guard, Killed In Car Accident After Semi-Truck Crashed Into Her

HERO CROSSING GUARD KILLED IN FATAL ACCIDENT HEMPSTEAD, NEW YORK (10, 28, 2016) 

A school crossing guard was killed by a big rig truck that was attempting to beat the light on South Franklin and Grove Streets, according to ABC 7 News. The school crossing guard that died in the accident has been identified as Virginia Carol Leviner. Witnesses are saying that a child was crossing the street as a truck was approaching quickly.  Virginia Leviner pushed the child out of the way and waved her sign in an attempt to get the truck to stop. The truck was unable to stop in time and ended up running the woman over. There is no word on whether the semi-truck driver will be charged for the accident.
