NYPD MAY BE LIABLE IN DEADLY CRASH BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (July 19, 2016)  One person has died in a tragic car accident after a drunk off-duty cop crashed his SUV onto a sidewalk in Williamsburg, according to the NY Post. Authorities have been able to identify the man that was killed in the collision as MIT student Andrew Esquivel. Three other people were seriously injured in the crash. There has been a dramatic increase in the number of people who use bicycles to get around New York City. According to Gothamist, a report prepared through years of research shows that there was a 320 percent increase in the number of New Yorkers commuting by bicycle in recent years as compared with in 1990. NYPD MAY BE LIABLE IN FATAL PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (July 17, 2015) One man was killed and three others were seriously injured when an intoxicated NYPD cop drove his SUV onto the sidewalk and struck the pedestrian, according to the NY Daily News. Authorities have been able to identify one of the victims injured in the crash as Sophia Tabachoun. Divya Menezes and James Balchaunas were also hospitalized for their injuries after the SUV crashed. Andrew Esquivel was identified as the 21-year-old that died due to his injuries. The scene was absolutely chaotic. One person had their leg severely injured and another pedestrian was pinned up against a fence.
