BROOKLYN: Construction Worker Critically Injured After Down Elevator Shaft When A Wood Board Broke In Half

CONSTRUCTION SITE MAY HAVE BEEN IN VIOLATION OF NEW YORK LABOR LAW 240(1)  BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (November 11, 2016)

A construction worker was in critical condition and had to be rushed to Elmhurst Hospital after falling down an elevator shaft, according to NBC News. Other construction workers are saying that the accident happened after the man stepped on a wood board that snapped. The worker was hearing a protective helmet as well as a harness at the time of the accident. But it remains unclear if the man was hooked up properly. Pilku Construction Services, which employs the man, has declined to comment. The elevators constructions union came out shortly after the accident and said that this incident highlights the need for the passage of the Elevator Safety Act. The ACT would set minimum standards for training and safety for the mechanics that work on elevators. Our staff at the RMFW Law Firm extend our thoughts and prayers to the man that was injured in this elevator accident. We encourage the city and regulatory agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into what happened. We sincerely hope that the appropriate steps are taken in order to prevent accident like this from happening in the future.
