Accidents are the leading cause of death in children aged 1 to 14 years. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2014, 3,857 deaths were caused by unintentional injuries in children among this age group. Unintentional drowning and unintentional motor vehicle traffic were the two main causes of unintentional injury deaths. The leading causes of death in young children, such as auto accidents, drowning, suffocation, falls, dog bites, poisoning, and fires are all incidences that could have been prevented from occurring in the first place.
