A driver rammed a rented truck into seven other vehicles in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan, causing many injuries. The driver was identified as convicted felon Devon Brandon. Authorities said the crash happened because the 36-year-old was driving under the influence. The 2017 incident underscores the severity of drunk driving as a contributor to injuries and deaths on NYC roads. 

Right after the incident, Brandon tried to escape the scene in a fire truck that responded to the multi-vehicle collision. Despite the comical nature of the event, the crash injured nine people, including Brandon.

FARMINGDALE, NEW YORK (March 12, 2017) - One person was killed after a Toyota Rav 4 collided with a Box truck and a utility poll on  Fulton and Main streets. Police are still trying to figure out what happened. The crash remains under investigation. The box truck driver does not appear to have charged with anything following the accident. SUVs are typically very safe vehicles when it come to rear end collision and front end collisions. However, SUVs due tend to have a propensity to roll over. It remains unclear if that played a role in this crash. It is something that police will want to continue to investigate.

A picture of what happened shows the SUV on its side. Police are still working to identify the passenger of the SUV. It remains unclear who is actually at fault in the accident. One side of the SUV was completely smashed in by the utility poll. Paramedics tried their best to save the passenger of the SUV, but they were not able to.

Authorities are saying that a Toyota Rav 4 collided with a semi-truck and was pushed into a utility poll by  Fulton and Main streets. The driver of the SUV was able to survive the crash. However, the passenger of the SUV was not able to survive. Paramedics arrived at the scene of the collision in order to help those that they were injured. But they could not save the passenger of the SUV.

Police are saying that the crash occurred between a Toyota Rav 4 and the Semi Truck. Paramedics arrived at the scene of the crash and pronounced the passenger of the SUV dead. It remains unclear how the accident took place. A picture of accident shows the SUV turned on its side. It remains unclear if police are going to charge anyone in the crash. The SUV also collided with a utility pole following the initial accident with the tractor trailer. Investigators will continue to examine what happened in order to determine liability.
