LISTERIA OUTBREAK LEAVES ONE PERSON DEAD
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (March 12, 2017) – At least one person was killed in a listeria outbreak that has been linked to a creamery in New York, according to NBC News. The department of Public Health is continuing to investigate the accident. Police are saying that the outbreak has been linked to the Vulto Creamery of Walton. At least six other instances of the outbreak have been uncovered. Three out of the six cases have been fatal. There has been a recall issued for the cream cheese. The outbreak is rare and is inked to bacteria that grows in the cheese. Those that experience Listeria typically have fever and muscle ache. People who experience these conditions should seek medical assistance immediately. Symptoms may not appear until a few weeks after a person has gotten sick.
