FENTANYL OVERDOSES KILL MORE PEOPLE THAN HEROIN ON LONG ISLAND
LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK (January 1, 2017) – Hundreds of people died in 2016 on long after overdosing from fentanyl, according to the New York Times.
Fentanyl is a legal synthetic prescription drug that is used to treat extreme pain. Drug smugglers have also recently started taking the drug and adding it to heroin.
The combination has proven to be especially deadly. Fentanyl can be taken in a variety of forms. However, many of the accidental overdoses occur when people use the liquid form of fentanyl.
Fentanyl is manufactured in a lab and is cheaper to make than many other pain killers. This has led to its widespread used despite its potential lethality.
