FATAL ACCIDENT KILLS TWO WORKERS QUEENS, NEW YORK (November 23, 2016)
Two workers were killed when a 6,500 pound beam steel feel from a crane in a Queen construction site, according to ABC News. Both the crane operator and a worker that was guiding the beam were killed. Police have been able to identify the two workers that died as Alessandro Ramos and George Smith. It appears as though one of the wires that was holding up the steel beam collapsed. Early reports surrounding the accident suggest that there was a lot of wind on the day that the beam collapsed. But it is still not apparent if that is what contributed to the fatal collapse. It appears that there may have been a material failure with some of the key parts that were actually holding up the beam itself. The RMFW Law Firm was deeply saddened by the tragic crane accident that killed Alessandro Ramos and George Smith. This accident highlights the need for reform in order to protect the safety of workers. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those that have been affected.
